Chapel Hill Chinese Language & Culture School was founded in 2006 by a group of like-minded parents who had a passion to create a Chinese learning experience for their children that was robust, fun and community-minded. Today, the school is still mainly run by volunteers who strive to provide a nurturing learning environment in which students can develop an appreciation for the Chinese culture, build their language skills, and be part of a Chinese community in the Durham-Chapel Hill area.

Community
In contrast to other local Chinese schools, CHCLCS is a relatively small community where we hope families can more easily connect. We enjoy small classes, community meals and familiar faces.
Traditional characters
Understanding Traditional characters helps students lay a solid foundation in learning Chinese. We believe that Traditional characters carry more of the Chinese culture, history, and essence in each word. For more about Traditional characters at CHCLCS click here, or to learn about it in general, read this.
Fridays
Another unique feature of CHCLCS is that we meet on Friday nights. Despite a busy week, families appreciate free weekends to pursue other activities and interests, and make Chinese learning a priority on Friday evenings.
CHCLCS is a not-for-profit and volunteer-based 501 (C) (3) tax exempt organization.
